James Hamilton, University of Illinois student

I've been accepted to the Spring 2008 term at the University of Illinois, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

I'll be a non-degree seeking student going part time. After a few semesters I can re-apply and become a degree seeking student part time. Eventually, I'll be able to graduate with a Bachelor's degree. As long as I work for Illinimedia, my tuition will be zero. I will only have to pay for books and fees.

I haven't decided what I want to get my degree in. I expect I'm halfway to a degree in Graphic Design, since that's what I studied at Parkland. I'm not sure I want to try the UofI's GD program though, from people I know in it, it's really though. I'm also not sure I want to be a graphic designer anymore.

I'm also considering creative writing and speech communications. I've done some writing and I enjoy it. I figured if I studied something I enjoy I'd get good grades. I also thought I could get a job as an editor anywhere in the country while I work on becoming a famous author.
