The College Application Essay

Here's what I came up with to answer the College Application's "Essay" question, "State the reasons for requesting non-degree enrollment."

I am applying as a part-time non-degree seeking student because I feel it is the best way for me to continue my education while meeting my financial and family obligations. I plan to become a degree-seeking student at a later date. I hope to graduate from The University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree.

I feel that completing my education is a prerequisite for my ultimate goal of starting a family. I fear that without the advantages of a university education and a bachelor’s degree I will be unable to provide for my future family.

I cannot attend the University of Illinois full time because my current financial obligations require I work a full-time job. Additionally, given that my employer provides a tuition waver as part of my salary I feel it would be foolish to not take advantage of this opportunity.

I feel it is best for my education and my future if I am admitted to The University of Illinois as a part-time, non-degree seeking student for the Spring 2008 term.

So, what do you think?
